The Steps Of A Good Man, 12-Step Program
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in His way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand. – Psalm 37:23-24
What Is A Good Man According To The Bible?
God is good. For a person to be good in this sense, the first qualification is being a Christian. I know a lot of people who do good deeds, have good personalities and speak good words. But doing good and being good is different.
In Psalm 15, we hear David asking almost the same question when he asks the Lord, “O Lord, who shall sojourn in Your tent? Who shall dwell on Your holy hill?”
In other words, who is a good person?
12-Step Program of a Good Person
After posing the question, David answers by giving twelve steps of a good person.
- Walk blamelessly, without guilt. -1 Peter 1:15-16
- Do what is right – put on Christ. -Romans 13:14
- Speak truth in your heart. -Psalm 5:6
- Hold your tongue. -James 3:6
- Be kind to your neighbors. -Romans 12:18
- Be forgiving. -Ephesians 4:31-32
- Shun evil. -Ephesians 5:12
- Honor other believers. -Romans 12:10
- Put others first. -Philippians 2:3
- Be steadfast. -1 Corinthians 15:58
- Do not charge interest with personal loans. -Luke 6:30
- Do not take bribes. -Proverbs 17:23
